With pride and deep gratitude, we inform the academic and professional public that the President of our Scientific-Professional Society for Disaster Risk Management, Prof. Dr. Vladimir M. Cvetković, has been appointed to the academic title of Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Leoben, Austria, by the decision of the University Senate on June 4, 2025. This appointment was made in accordance with the university’s statutes and its high academic standards, marking a significant recognition by this prestigious international institution.
This honor stands as one of the highest academic distinctions in Prof. Cvetković’s career, reflecting decades of scientific research, international engagement, and strategic contributions to the field of risk and safety management. At the same time, it represents a renewed responsibility and commitment to advancing education and science.
The appointment confirms the recognized expertise and quality of Prof. Cvetković’s long-standing academic and professional engagement, as well as the trust and appreciation expressed by the university. In line with university regulations, the title is conferred for a five-year period, with the potential for extension based on continued collaboration and evaluation.
This achievement builds on his previously held role as a visiting professor within the Master’s program Safety and Disaster Management (SDM) at the Technical University of Leoben—an interdisciplinary program that combines safety, risk governance, environmental protection, and energy efficiency to prepare professionals for contemporary challenges and crisis situations.
In this new capacity, Prof. Cvetković will contribute through teaching, student mentorship, the development of simulations and field exercises, and participation in joint research initiatives focusing on critical infrastructure protection, climate and technological risks, and the strengthening of institutional and community resilience. Special attention will be given to bridging academic knowledge and practical application through regional and European initiatives.
The official awarding ceremony will take place on December 19, 2025, in Leoben, Austria, during the university’s formal academic celebration.
We take this opportunity to extend our sincere gratitude to the Senate and Rectorate of the Technical University of Leoben, led by Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. mont. Peter Moser, for this distinguished recognition. We also express deep appreciation to esteemed colleagues: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Harald Raupenstrauch, Chair of the Department of Thermal Processing Technology, and Dr. Renate Renner, Head of the Safety and Disaster Studies (SDS) working group and Coordinator of the Master’s program in Safety and Disaster Management, for their longstanding support and professional collaboration.
